About Us
Who are we
The Young Leaders club is a public speaking club started by Clements High School students.
Young Leaders Club is for Elementary school students seeking to learn public speaking and to become part of the debate clubs. In this club you will interact with members of the High School debate teams and learn to:
Speak and deliver with confidence
Connect with your audience
Build your overall effectiveness in public speaking
Why it matters
Our club helps to foster public speaking and leadership skills in elementary school students in our district. By starting early, these students will be exposed to a lot more opportunities as they step into middle school and high school. The goal is to get the children to become much stronger, confident public speakers which are essential to succeed in school and beyond.
How we teach
In pursuit of this goal, we have currently introduced after-school public speaking classes at elementary schools with needs in our city.
In addition to regular classes, we also a workshop-style class that would teach the students vital life skills like time management, public speaking, improving speech and vocabulary, addressing an audience, speaking with confidence as well as encouraging leadership roles.
The club officers from Clements would be working with the students in a monthly workshop setting.
COVID-19 Update:
As the current schooling has shifted to online learning, we are refocusing our efforts to help elementary children cope with this new form of learning.
We are planning to supplement and support online remote learning offered by the schools for elementary students by providing additional online tutoring. Register if you want to join this program: https://youngleaderstx.org/fall-2020-online-coaching/
